This was one of the best excursions of the trip. Part of the Tongass Natl Forest, it can only be visited by floatplane (unless you feel like hiking the the rain for a few days). The pictures cannot do justice to the experience - it feels primordial - and while it was unusually clear in town, it was appropriately misty once you fly over the ridge.




Conditions permitted a landing, but we had to scramble onto the plane floats (in the rain) to take in the view.
